Rinspeed BamBoo ConceptBest known for its construction of oddball but impressive concepts like the James Bond-esque underwater sQuba and eXasis glass car, Swiss tuning and engineering firm Rinspeed is now delving into a new world of minimalistic auto design where efficiency and renewability is the name of the game. Set to debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March, Rinspeed’s all-electric BamBoo concept resembles a grown-up golf cart and is bound to evoke plenty of admiration following its world debut in the new year.
The goal of the BamBoo is to combine the retro design of the past with all that the future has to offer, reinterpreting classic designs and evolving them into what you see here. It is a reminiscence of the 1970s, of the south of France and St. Tropez.
This open-top four-seater awakens the longing for sun, summer, for lightness and easiness–it is the ideal beachcomber vehicle, constructed partially from renewable bamboo and powered by a zero-emissions electric drivetrain. There’s even a secondary electric drivetrain to power an onboard foldable two-wheeler, which has a driving range of one mile in case your Bamboo gets stranded somewhere because of a flat battery.   
The 2011 Geneva Motor Show kicks off on March 3 of next year.
