According to our own reckoning, Ford hasn’t really sold that many 2012 Ford Focus Electric cars to non fleet customers. 
For those who have made the purchase however, the automaker has announced its smartphone iPhone app and website are now live, letting customers remotely interact with their car. 
Just like smartphone apps for the 2012 Nissan Leaf and 2012 Chevrolet Volt, Ford’s smartphone app — called MyFord Mobile — allows users to check their car’s state of charge, precondition the cabin and commence charging.
It also adds the ability to locate charging stations and set time-of-use charging parameters that ensure the car is charged at the cheapest possible cost, as well as offer remote unlocking and starting. 
In addition, the Ford-specific app allows users to program the car’s GPS unit, as well as analyze past driving performance and efficiency.

Essentially an extension of the My Ford Touch technology developed in conjunction with Microsoft, the smartphone and online app aims to make owning a 2012 Ford Focus Electric as simple as possible. 
We like its high-quality graphics and simple-to-use interface, which beats what we’ve seen from Nissan and General Motors. 
But with so few 2012 Ford Focus Electric cars on the road, we’ll have to wait a while to see if Ford’s electric car software is a hit with owners.
