Nissan announced yesterday that it has added six new states to its list of places you can buy its all-electric Leaf hatchback; Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York.
While the 2011 Nissan Leaf wasn’t ready for cold weather, the 2012 Leaf should cope with harsh winters in colorado and the northeast thanks to its standard cold-weather package. 
Included as standard on every 2012 Nissan Leaf, the cold-weather package includes battery heating to keep the Leaf’s lithium-ion battery pack warm in cold weather as well as  electrically heated passenger seats and steering wheel for passenger comfort. 
If you live in one of the newly-added states and have already put your $99 deposit down to be placed on the pre-order waiting list, Nissan will contact you shortly to ensure you’re among the first people to officially order a Leaf in your area.  
If you haven’t placed your name down on the pre-order waiting list, you’ll have to wait until October 3, when the ordering process will open up to everyone in the six new states. 
Also announced yesterday was a new website devoted to the Nissan Leaf. Called NissanLeafDrivers.com, the Nissan-sponsored website will feature weekly content from 14 Leaf owners who have become blogging ambassadors for the brand. 
So far, bloggers on the site have shared information about their buying decisions, the ordering process, and the reaction of family, friends and coworkers to their all-electric hatchback.
