Over the past few years, it’s become almost customary for Californian automaker Tesla to release regular videos detailing the final developmental and testing stages of its 2012 Model S Sedan. 
So far, we’ve seen pretty videos of it moving under its own power, and even a trio test-track fun teaser. Now Tesla is keen to prove its luxury 7-seat sedan is ready for sub-zero winter weather. 
In Baudette, Minnesota, where average January temperatures hover around -7 degrees Fahrenheit, a team of engineers put the 2012 Model S through its paces, conducting a series of tests designed to validate handling, stability and drivability on snow and ice. 
Naturally, a film crew accompanied Tesla to the frigid north, documenting the Model S confidently passing all tests.

The result? A 1:50 minute film mashup highlighting the toughest tests. Complete with cinematic soundtrack and rapidly-changing camera angles, the result is more Hollywood than Silicon Valley.
For automakers, winter testing is an essential part of preparing any car for market, and proves they can perform well and keep passengers warm regardless of the temperature.
But released the same day as Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared as a guest on Comedy Central’s Daily Show, the latest Model S video is clearly little more than eye-candy.
Then again, we have to admit watching a beautiful car frolic in a winter wonderland is kind of mesmerizing…
