Certain 2016 Nissan Leaf electric cars are being recalled to address an airbag fault.
The affected cars may suffer from an electrical problem that could disable passenger-side airbags.
Faulty components in the wiring harness that connects these airbags to the car’s electrical system may cause the harness to become detached from the airbag module.

If the wiring harness and airbags are completely disconnected, the airbags won’t deploy during a crash.
If the components become partially disconnected, airbags may still deploy, or may deploy only partially.
Partial separation might not be enough to trigger a dashboard warning light, so owners may not be aware of the problem.
2016 Nissan LeafNissan dealers will inspect the wiring-harness connector, and replace the harness and/or airbag module in the event a faulty connector is found.
Owners will receive notices in the mail later this month with information about when to take their cars to dealers to have this work performed free of charge.
