Electric car owners in Prague can rest easy when it comes to parking their EV. If you’ve decided to get an electric or hybrid vehicle, you can park your car in blue and purple zones without worrying about parking meters.

What Are the Requirements to Park for Free in Prague?

One of the biggest advantages that Prague offers to EV owners is the possibility of free parking in purple and blue zones. Are you wondering if you qualify for free parking? The only rule for your vehicle is:

Vehicles with an EL series plate automatically qualify for free parking in purple and blue zones.

If your car doesn’t have this licence plate, you can get a parking permit for electric cars. The permit is issued by the Prague City Hall and comes with a handling fee of 100 CZK.

Until when is parking in Prague free?

This benefit is available until the end of this year – 31 December 2024. So, if you own a vehicle with an EL series plate or have a valid parking permit for electric cars, you can park in these zones for free.

Do Plug-in Hybrids Qualify for Free Parking?

Yes! Certain hybrid vehicles can also benefit from free parking. The only condition for Hybrid cars to park for free in Prague is that their CO2 emissions can’t exceed 50 g/km.

Reserved Spaces for Electric Cars

In many parking areas, you’ll find spots reserved specifically for electric cars, marked with green signs labelled “EKO.” These spots are usually available, and you can avoid the difficulties of finding a suitable parking spot.

Where Can I Find More Information?

For easier parking of electric cars in Prague, we recommend using parking apps and the city’s websites.

Current information and specific conditions can be found, for example, on the Prague Parking website.

The city provides comprehensive details about charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Prague and public charging stations.
