The 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid was first announced last year, but it won’t go on sale until early in 2017.
As that launch date draws nearer, we’ve learned more important details about the plug-in hybrid luxury sedan.
When it arrives in the U.S. in Spring 2017, the CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will start at $76,090 (including destination).

It will have equipment and features equivalent to the non-hybrid Premium Luxury model, which is the second-highest trim level currently available.
That model starts at $65,585 (including destination), although Cadillac says the plug-in hybrid will include some equipment that’s optional on the gasoline model as standard.
Cadillac also now claims an estimated electric-only range of 30 miles, and an efficiency rating of 65 MPGe.

(Miles Per Gallon Equivalent, or MPGe, is a measurement of how far a car can travel electrically on the same amount of energy as contained in 1 gallon of gasoline.)
The CT6 is limited to 78 mph in electric mode, and can achieve a top speed of 150 mph in hybrid mode, according to Cadillac.
The powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors.

The two-motor drive system is similar in configuration to the one used in the Chevrolet Volt, albeit applied to a rear-wheel drive vehicle.
An 18.4-kilowatt-hour capacity for the lithium-ion battery pack also matches that of the Volt, although the pack is not in the same T-shaped configuration as the Chevy’s.
Rather than placing the pack in the tunnel between the front seats and under the rear seats, as in the Volt, the CT6 pack is integrated into the floor.

Total system output is 335 horsepower and 432 pound-feet of torque, according to Cadillac, allowing the CT6 to do 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.
The CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will be exported from China, where it will be a much more important model because of generous government incentives that can be applied to plug-in hybrids.

Conventional CT6 sedans, meanwhile, will be built at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant in Michigan.
Cadillac has suggested that sales of its plug-in hybrid luxury sedan will be lower than 1,000 units per year.
