With gasoline cheap and buyers continuing to shun passenger cars for crossovers and trucks, there are bargains to be had in fuel-efficient and electrified vehicles.
This month’s deals, courtesy of CarsDirect, includes cheap leases, low financing rates, and money off sticker prices.
They cover a variety of vehicle types, with hybrids among the heavily discounted.

Hybrids
Once again, the Kia Optima Hybrid carries hefty incentives; it’s been a prime deal for several months now.
Those offers include a continuation of last month’s record-setting $5,000 in factory cash back, though Kia is also dangling 0.9-percent financing for up to 66 months paired with up to $2,000 bonus cash.
CarsDIrect calculates you’d be probably better off taking the cash.
2018 Chevrolet Volt
Plug-in hybrids
With the Chevrolet Bolt EV electric car now front and center in Chevy’s plug-in lineup, sales of the Volt plug-in hybrid have lessened somewhat. (It’s not helped by Chevy’s inability to explain plug-in hybrids and their advantages.)
Still, the compact five-door plug-in hybrid hatchback gets a hike in its residual values that cuts the effective lease cost against last month’s number.
In some states, it’s now cheaper to lease a Volt than it is a Chevrolet Cruze LT compact sedan with a gasoline engine.

Electric cars
The Kia Soul EV continues to benefit from attractive deals, just as its Optima Hybrid sibling does.
Some models of the Soul EV are now $20 a month less expensive than gasoline-powered Souls, despite a price difference of almost $15,000.
Lease deals are now out for the 2018 Nissan Leaf, too; you can get some versions for $13 per month less than the lower-range Volkswagen e-Golf.
2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Sedan
Diesels
The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel sedan and hatchback continue to carry major discounts.
If you come in from a non-GM lease—which you don’t even need to trade in—you get $1,500 on top of the $2,500 rebate offered to most buyers.
Alternatively, you can choose a 0-percent rate for 72 months with $1,000 on top. That may be a better deal in some circumstances.

Fuel-efficient cars
Finally, the Hyundai Elantra—a compact sedan or hatchback we rather enjoy for its sleek lines and intuitive, functional interior—carries deals, including the most fuel-efficient Eco version.
Buyers can take 0-percent financing for 72 months plus a bonus of $1,000, or a $2,500 rebate.
As always, do the math yourself, but many buyers may lower their effective costs the most by using the no-interest financing rate.
