With Tesla Motors [NSDQ:TSLA] recently reviving the 60-kilowatt-hour battery option for the Model S, it was only a matter of time until the option was added to the related Model X.
Tesla finally made it official on Tuesday when it announced the Model X 60D.
The good news for potential buyers is that the arrival of the 60D option sees the starting price of the Model X dropped to $75,200. The previous point of entry for the electric SUV was the $84,200 75D option.
The 75D is still available and above this remains the 90D and P90D, priced from $96,700 and $116,700, respectively. All figures include Tesla’s standard $1,200 destination charge.

The 60D option is yet to be classified by the EPA but Tesla estimates a range of 200 miles. Other performance metrics include 0-60 mph acceleration in 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph.
This 200-mile range makes the 60D quite the bargain considering the extra $9k you need to fork over for the 75D only nets you around 37 more miles. It should help spur some sales, which Tesla could certainly use to meet its target of 80,000 to 90,000 deliveries in 2016.
The option is available to order now. Tesla estimates a late September delivery for new orders.
