Researching a new car can be hard work, especially with niche market vehicles like electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
With test-drives, news reports and general information, we provide buyers with a nationwide view of plug-in and green cars, but now a new website is offering car buyers in the San Francisco Bay Area a one-stop shop for all their specific SF Bay Area plug-in car questions.
Set up by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), Bay Area PEV Ready lists local events, workshops, and incentives specific to the Bay Area, as well as listing other resources on line where prospective plug-in car owners can look for more information.
Similar to a website launched by Southern California Edison back in 2009 for residents of Los Angeles, it is hoped www.bayareapevready.org will encourage more residents in the Bay Area to make the switch to plug-in vehicles.
Always known for its active plug-in vehicle movement, the new website isn’t the only new plug-in vehicle initiative Bay residents have to look forward to.

Thanks to $6.3 million in funding from the BAAQMD, more than 50 direct current fast chargers and 250 Level 2, 240-volt charging stations will be installed throughout the area.
The funding will also provide rebates for up to 3,000 residents to have Level 2 home charging stations installed, the majority of which it hopes will be installed by the summer of 2013.
With more cities actively encouraging plug-in car ownership, what could your own city, county or state do to further encourage plug-in cars?
