Just weeks ahead of the 2011 Nissan Motor Show, Nissan has released pictures and videos of its latest all-electric car: The 2011 ESFLOW concept, something we’d heard was in development a while ago.
Built from the ground up from scratch, the all-electric two-seat sport coupe concept car features dual motor rear-wheel drive and enough torque to power it from 0-62 mph in under five seconds.
Using lightweight Aluminium chassis, composite body and the same laminated lithium-ion batteries found in the 2011 Nissan LEAF,  Nissan claims a range of over 150 miles per charge.
Designed primarily as a sports car, Nissan hopes the concept will illustrate the future of electric vehicles within the company, giving an insight into a future two-seat sports car to complement Nissan’s traditional internal combustion engined sports cars.

As with any concept car, the interior is far from traditional, with gold leather and suede covering the seats. A wrap-around windscreen creates a dramatic look nissan claims improves driver visibility.
Nissan hasn’t given us much technical information about the car, but they have gone to great lengths to describe its ideal buyer.  It’s amusing, if a little extraneous.
“Daniel, an ESFLOW owner, works in tech, but lives for the weekend. On Friday night after work, he gets behind the wheels of his ESFLOW which instantly links with his pocket PDA and determines the fastest route to his girlfriend’s home. Finding street side parking is a synch as the ESFLOW’s compact dimensions allow it to slip in to the narrowest of spaces. On Saturday he drives to a popular club to exhibit his DJ skills and his friends are impressed by his cool EV sports car.”
Like any concept car, the ESFLOW is highly unlikely to make it to market in its current format, but an all-electric sports car from Nissan would certainly be well-recieved.
Nissan has invited us to Frankfurt in Germany next week to learn more about the ESFLOW. You can be sure we’ll keep you up-to-date with this exciting new concept.
The ESFLOW will be formally unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show next month.
