Wherever you charge your electric car, it’s nice to have access to the latest equipment and a good network of charging sites.
That’s the aim of ECOtality, as it offers Blink chargers at an increasingly wide range of sites, with Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta the latest cities joining the list.
Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt-owning residents and commercial hosts in these cities, who sign up to ECOtality’s EV Project, get a free Blink wall-mount charger and up to $400 installation credit.
That certainly makes things a little easier for plug-in owners, and goes towards the EV Project’s aim of building a nationwide network of electric vehicle charging stations.
Don Karner, Chief Innovation Officer at ECOtality, explains the scheme’s aims. “By signing up for a free charger, EV owners can take part in this massive research project that can help reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil… With the expansion of this new market, The EV project is now in nine states and 21 major metropolitan areas throughout the country.”
Representatives from each city are pleased to welcome the EV Project’s free chargers, with cities like Atlanta offering specially discounted rates between 11pm and 7am, saving electric car owners even more money.
So where will the EV Project move next? If your city isn’t yet included in the scheme, maybe it’s time to start pushing ECOtality for a few free chargers…
