“Switching to an electric vehicle was a big change. Suddenly I had to think more about getting around. On the other hand, despite the challenges, owning an electric car had brought me many benefits,” said Pavel.
Pavel surprised us with specific figures: “I used to pay around CZK 3,500 a month for petrol. Now, with my electric car, I spend less than CZK 1,200 on charging. That means I’m saving about 66% compared to the original cost.”
After experiencing the EV and comparing costs, Pavel came to the conclusion that he can’t even imagine going back to petrol.
We wondered how and when Pavel charges his electric vehicle. He explains, “I charge overnight. It’s true that charging an EV takes longer than refueling, so I have to plan it a bit. However, getting home and just plugging the car in to charge is the least I can do,” he explains.
For longer journeys, he claims to use fast chargers, which allow the battery to be recharged in twenty minutes.
He also mentions that the availability of public charging stations has improved significantly in recent years. “In the Czech Republic, we have one of the densest networks in Europe. Today, you can find a charger practically anywhere, even in smaller villages. I am convinced that one day there will be a charger at every petrol station.”
What surprised Pavel most about his new electric car? The silence! Pavel was amazed by how quiet his new electric car is. “I’ve never had such a silent ride in a petrol car. When I want to enjoy the music, there’s nothing to interrupt it. And at night, during family holidays, my wife and kids can sleep in peace without the noise of an engine.”
Pavel also appreciated the simple maintenance. Maintenance of the electric car is easier and cheaper, he said. “I don’t have to deal with oil changes and things like that. The electric car has fewer moving parts, so there is less risk of something wearing out and needing to be replaced.”
“Absolutely not! Like the guys from AutosEU, I believe that electromobility is the future. Whether we want it or not, we can’t avoid it,” says Pavel. For him, switching to an electric car had both economic and environmental benefits.
What’s Pavel’s advice for those still unsure about switching to an electric car? “There’s nothing to fear,” he says. “Today, there’s an enormous amount of information, apps, and support available. Electric vehicles are reliable and efficient. The zero emissions are a fantastic bonus,” he concluded.
