Starting tomorrow, more than 100 cities across the U.S. will take part in the sixth annual National Drive Electric Week.
Scheduled for September 10 through 18, the event is composed of numerous local gatherings that celebrate and promote electric cars.
The EVgo charging network plans to join in on the festivities in a big way.
DON’T MISS: National Drive Electric Week kicks off one month from today
It will offer free electric-car charging to members throughout National Drive Electric Week.
Anyone with a valid EVgo charging card can plug in gratis at any of the network’s roughly 1,000 charging sites, which cover over 50 metropolitan markets, EVgo claims.
That tally includes about 700 sites that offer DC fast charging, including charging stations compatible with both the CHAdeMO standard and the Combined Charging Standard (CCS).

Earlier this year, EVgo split from utility company NRG, which previously owned and operated the charging network.
In May, the newly-independent EVgo secured a significant investment from Vision Ridge Partners, and continues to receive some funding from NRG.
EVgo was spun off as part of a larger effort by NRG to cut costs and refocus on its core electricity-generation business.

Separated from NRG, EVgo is continuing its mission to expand electric-car charging infrastructure and court new customers.
It’s hard to think of a better way to do that than participate in National Drive Electric Week.
It started in 2011 as National Plug-In Day, and continues to be run by advocacy group Plug In America, the Sierra Club, the Electric Auto Association, and various smaller local groups.
