Electric car owners aren’t necessarily known for their love of hunting — and those who hunt aren’t usually known for their love of electric cars either.
After all, gun-toting, gas-guzzling, Russia-spying, former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin loves to hunt — and her motto of “Drill Baby, Drill!” is about as far away from an electric car as you can get.
While the chance of Mrs. Palin putting down a deposit on a brand new electric car seems slim to non-existent — even though the home-built 2012 Chevrolet Volt launches in Alaska later this year — some of her gun-toting hunting friends further south in Colorado might be.
According to the appropriately named ammoland.com website, hunters in the state of Colorado can now take advantage of the state’s infamously generous electric vehicle tax credit scheme to buy themselves a new all-electric hunting All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).
According to Stealth Electric Vehicles of Georgia, its 4×4 Night Hawk is the first and only ATV eligible to take advantage of Colorado’s electric vehicle tax credits. Ammoland claims that buying the Stealth Night Hawk in Colorado entitles its new owner to a massive $5,947 tax credit — but we’re not entirely sure that’s accurate.
Tax credit or not, we’re not entirely sure that many Colorado residents will want to spend their hard-earned money on a souped-up camouflage-wearing ATV.
Designed to creek up on poor defenseless fluffy bunnies — or larger game — in the woods, the Stealth Night Hawk has a 72-volt lead-acid battery pack giving a claimed range of between 30 and 40 miles.
Stealth Electric Vehicles claim its off-road ATV can operate in temperatures between -13 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit, making it useable all-year round in all but the harshest of winters.
There isn’t a price listed for these silent killers – but the brochure promises such luxuries as disc brakes, three-point seat-belts and the all-important floor-mounted Gun-rack.
As for passengers? Stealth Electric Vehicles claim the Night Hawk can carry 800 pounds –That’s the equivalent of four burly hunters — or a couple of small deer.
