A few weeks ago, we told you that all new 2012 Chevrolet Volts manufactured after February 8 and destined for Californian dealers will feature a redesigned exhaust system that will enable them to qualify as Enhanced Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emissions Vehicles (e-AT-PZEVs).
As a consequence, Californian owners of new 2012 Chevy Volts will be eligible to apply for a yellow green bumper sticker for their car which will give them unlimited access to the state’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, regardless of how many passengers are in the vehicle. 
But there’s more: The cleaner emissions Californian Volts — fitted with what General Motors calls the low emissions package — will also be eligible for a $1,500 California state rebate towards their purchase.

Like the $2,500 California state rebate available on purchases of electric cars, the $1,500 rebate can be used alongside the $7,500 Federal tax credit for plug-in vehicles.
In order to take advantage of the $1,500 rebate, new Chevy Volt owners will have to mail the required paperwork to the state after purchase, with rebate checks taking on average 4-6 weeks to arrive.
