According to Honda, the CR-Z hybrid will be the world’s first hybrid sports car and will take on numerous other sports car when it launches next year.
New pictures have been released showing an updated version of the CR-Z concept.  The concept vehicle will be on display at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of this month.  According to Autocar, the pictures are 95% production ready and don’t differentiate much from the concept version unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.
The CR-Z will be powered by a 1.5 liter gasoline engine with horsepower estimated to be around 120.  Coupled with the electric motor, output will certainly be higher.  It’s expected to reach 6o mph in around 9 seconds and will utilize nickel metal hydride batteries.
Unusual for a hybrid, the CR-Z will be fitted with a six speed manual transmission rather than the traditional CVT used on most hybrid vehicles.
The concept will be unveiled in Tokyo with the full production version to be on display in Detroit at the 2010 NAIAS. 
Sales will begin in Japan in February of 2010 with the UK and US to follow.
