As electric cars become more common, it’s only a matter of time before more people start thinking of things to do with them besides drive to and from work.
Like, for example, turning one into a barbecue on wheels.
In this case, it’s an electric van, not a car–all the better to power your electric grill, right?

Nissan claims to have created the “Ultimate Smart BBQ Vehicle” using its e-NV200, an all-electric version of the NV200 small van.
As enthusiastically described (in Japanese) in the video above (via Electric Cars Report), the modified e-NV200 has everything you’ll need for an outdoor party.

All of the food-preparation equipment is contained within one unit that slides out of the van’s rear hatch. A 1,500-watt electric grill unfolds from there, creating something of a mini kitchen.
There’s also a “Mosquito Barrier System” that drives bugs away using ultrasonic waves and insect repellant.
Of course, in this day and age nothing is worth doing unless it can be broadcast on social media, and Nissan has that covered too.

The e-NV200 comes equipped with its own “Flying Selfie Camera” drone that can fly around a campsite and take pictures to upload later.
Other tech features include a system that allows users to project content onto one of the van’s windows for some after dinner entertainment, and a complete karaoke setup.
Nissan itself will likely never offer an e-NV200 equipped like this, but it’s possible that if electric vans become more popular, aftermarket companies will begin outfitting them with lavish accessories for camping or tailgating–just as they do with internal-combustion vans and RVs.

While the conventional NV200 is sold in the U.S.–it even does duty as New York City’s “Taxi of Tomorrow”–the company hasn’t decided whether to bring the electric e-NV200 here.
It’s still testing a handful of the vans to see if they’re a good match for North American duty cycles.
The van is built at Nissan’s assembly plant in Barcelona, Spain, and is currently on sale in Europe and Japan only.
