With the holiday season in full swing, here’s a gift idea that will indoctrinate tomorrow’s potential electric-car buyers at a young age.
It’s a miniature Tesla Model S produced by Radio Flyer.
The company known for its red wagons collaborated with Tesla on the toy Model S, which starts at $499.

Unlike many other toy cars, Radio Flyer can at least claim that its Model S uses the same type of powertrain as the real thing.
A small electric motor provides an unrestricted top speed of 6 mph, although it can also be limited to 3 mph for “beginners.”
The Radio Flyer Model S also features working LED headlights, a horn, forward and reverse gears, and an audio system that can play music from MP3 players or smartphones.

For an additional authentic touch, the charge port is located in the same place as on a full-size Model S: behind one of the taillights.
The toy car is available in four exterior paint colors based on colors offered on the real Model S: Red Multi-Coat, Deep Blue Metallic, Midnight Silver Metallic, and Pearl White Multi-Coat.

Radio Flyer recommends the car for kids from three to eight years old, as it has an 81-pound weight limit.
The car weighs 40 pounds itself, and measures 52 inches long and 28.5 inches wide.
That means kids will need a decent amount of space to test drive their mini Teslas, noted Bloomberg.

Just like a full-size car, the price of the Radio Flyer Model S can also be inflated with optional extras.

These include a $20 vanity plate, $50 car cover, and a $60 upgrade for the lithium-ion battery beyond the standard 130-watt-hour unit.
Range anxiety can even be an issue when it comes to toy cars, it seems.
