Over the past few months, the Toyota Prius range of hybrid cars has received significant discounts to keep sales up as the lineup ages and gas prices remain low.
That’s once again the case in August, particularly for the Toyota Prius V tall wagon model.
In the San Francisco area, the Prius V is getting a regional discount of $4,000.

This represents a major increase over the $2,750 discount offered in July, according to CarsDirect.
The overall discount includes a $2,500 rebate and a $1,500 bonus offer for buyers in San Francisco and its environs.
Rebates in most other regions–like the $1,500 discount available in Los Angeles–remain largely unchanged, the website says.

The Prius V is available to lease at $239 per month for 36 months, with $1,999 due at signing and a mileage allowance of 12,000 miles per year.
Zero-percent financing for up to 60 months is also available, with a $1,000 bonus for financing through Toyota Financial.
Buyers in certain regions who currently own a model from the Prius “family” can also get a $500 loyalty bonus, if they finance through Toyota.

The Prius V received a mild update for 2015, with different styling and some feature changes.
However, its powertrain and EPA-rated fuel economy of 42 mpg combined (44 mpg city, 40 mpg highway) remains unchanged.
The Prius V isn’t the only good hybrid deal in San Francisco. Incentives on other Prius models are also getting a boost in the region.

The original Prius Liftback gets $3,000 in incentives for August, while the Prius C subcompact gets $1,500.
There’s also $1,500 worth of incentives for the Prius Plug-In Hybrid, which went out of production in June.
An all-new, fourth generation Prius is expected to launch sometime within the next few months, as a 2016 model.

Updates will likely include more expressive styling, and a boost in fuel economy.
A new Prius Plug-In Hybrid is expected as well, possibly with 30 or more miles of electric-only range.
Redesigns of the Prius V and Prius C taking advantage of the new platform would presumably follow the introduction of the fourth-generation Liftback and Plug-In Hybrid.
