We’ve all experienced taxi drivers who think they’re race car drivers, but Sabine Schmitz actually is.
German racer and TV personality Sabine only recently hung up her ‘Ring Taxi’ driving gloves, a job that involved taking paying customers for the ride of their lives around the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife, in a tire-smoking BMW M5.
Her recent ride was a little quieter however–an electric Furtive eGT from French maker Exagon Motors.
The Furtive eGT is nothing new, having appeared at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. As the video above suggests though, the car is slightly more than a static display.
In fact, Exagon says the car has 402 horsepower at 5,000-10,000 rpm, and 380 pounds-feet of torque over the first 5,000rpm. That lets it sprint to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds, which is genuine supercar territory. Top speed is limited to 155mph.
Perhaps even more interesting is the range–a claimed 200 miles on the combined economy cycle, or 220 miles in city driving. If you’re after even more, a range-extender option takes overall range to over 500 miles.
So what does the world’s fastest taxi driver think of the pretty electric sports car?
“It’s like sitting on a cloud”, she describes, revelling in the easy performance available from the smooth electric motor. The performance, grip and braking are praised too–inspiring confidence around the ‘Ring’s tricky turns.
It’s still unclear on whether the Furtive eGT is actually available to buy right now, but we suspect that if you turned up with a briefcase full of cash the company would build you one.
Until then, we’ll just have to enjoy watching it from afar.
